General overview of Counselling


Features of the service


  • The Isle of Wight Council does not supply counselling services

  • Counselling offers an opportunity to talk in confidence about problems that concern you. It may also be known as psychotherapy, therapeutic counselling or psychological counselling

  • By talking through your problems or concerns with a counsellor, you may deepen your understanding of what is happening and develop alternative ways of dealing with the situation


Cost of service
You may have to pay a contribution towards these services and the amount you pay depends on your income and your savings/capital. The care manager or social worker doing your assessment of your needs will explain about the cost of the community care services, will discuss ways you can pay for them and advise you on claiming social security benefits

Who this service is for:

• Any person who is aged 18 or over
