The Youth and Community Service offers a wide range of educational opportunities to young people in their leisure time. All the major towns have a large full-time youth centre and several villages have part-time maintained or voluntary youth clubs. There is also a mobile project - Mobile Youth - which visits rural areas where there are no permanent youth facilities. A team of 11 full-time staff and about 100 paid, voluntary and other staff support the service. There are projects held on the streets in Ryde, Cowes, Newport and Sandown. The Youth and Community Service holds the licence for running the Duke of Edinburgh's Award.
