On the 5th of May I was elected for the 3rd time to represent the local people of Freshwater Norton.

It is an honour for me to be given this role and I will ensure I go about my duties in a maner that will make a real difference to you, the elector.

Biography:	Andy, 52, was elected to the Isle of Wight Council in 1999 as the member for Freshwater Norton. Born in Leeds Andy is married to his wife Maureen who was born in Freshwater Norton. Andy spent 23 years in the Army and retired in 1993, leaving the service in the rank of Regimental Sergeant Major. He then joined the prison service but worked part time for the last four years to concentrate on local politics. In 2001 Andy became the leader of the opposition on the Council. This year he was elected by his group members to take up the position of Council Leader, he had previously turned down an opportunity to stand on the mainland as a Member of Parliament. Currently Andy spends much of his time working locally at county hall. He does however run a small consultancy business and undertakes work for the Audit Commission, the Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA) and the Society of Local Authority Chief Executives (SOLACE).
