X-ISLE SPORTS

X-Isle Sports is one of the UK’s most cutting edge watersports companies, offering training in traditional watersports such as Sailing, Surfing, Water-skiing and Windsurfing together with the world’s fastest growing watersport, Kitesurfing. Alongside this they also run the Isle of Wight’s hippest shop selling watersports equipment and clothing from world leading surfing brands together with some of the UK’s up and coming labels. In the summer of 2006 X-Isle also launched the Matrix eBusiness designed website, www.x-isle.co.uk, which aims to become one of the UK’s leading online adrenaline sports retailers.

Based at Bembridge X-Isle have been offering tuition from a well-equipped, well-staffed and well-run centre since 2003 and aim to deliver the ultimate watersports lifestyle experience through unrivalled standards of tuition and service, using the most up to date equipment available, together with an instructor team of the highest calibre. Originally formed with 2 instructors the company now employs a full and part time of up to 14 staff working as instructors, instructor support, online retail support and sales assistants.

In line with a number of other Island companies, X-Isle lays great weight on the emergence of the internet as a major route to market with over 80% of its sales being internet driven. To this end X-Isle’s training website, www.x-is.co.uk, and sister site, www.xisle.co.uk, are seen as leaders in their fields.

In November 2004 X-Isle broadened its horizons to the Indian Ocean with a dedicated kitesurfing centre in Mombasa, Kenya. This was born out of a collaborative venture with a Kenyan watersports company, Prosurf Extreme. Prosurf have been managing watersports centres on the Kenyan coast for 20 years and were looking to expand their kitesurfing division. To this end they approached X-Isle to manage and run their operation. This joint venture has led to the largest kitesurfing centre in East Africa which teaches students from Africa, Europe and the UK each year, and is set to become a major watersports destination of the future.

X-Isle is a fast expanding company with 2 new product launches set for winter 2006 and further expansion into 2007.
