What
Documents will I need?
Documents you may need to produce to the Superintendent Registrar or the Vicar
When you give your notice of marriage you will need to produce proof of your
identity. A valid passport is the ideal document. If this is not available,
two documents, such as a birth certificate (issued around the time of the registration
of your birth), medical card, driving licence, a cheque book, cheque guarantee
card, utility bill etc may be acceptable. Evidence of your present address is
also required.
If you have been married before you will need to produce documents to show
how your last marriage ended. These could include either a decree absolute bearing
the court's original stamp, or the death certificate of your former spouse.
If you have changed your name by Deed Poll, Change of name Deed or by Statutory
Declaration these documents will need to be shown to the Superintendent Registrar.
If either of you is under 18 years of age the consent of your parents or guardians
is required. Please ask the Superintendent Registrar for more information.
