The location of the project within the Countryside Section was ideal because the project needed access to the vehicles and tools operated by the Ranger Service. It is far more effective to get into Ryde with volunteers from the local community, and undertake practical improvement works. Also, it is invaluable to have instant access to the information held by the ecology, ranger and tree teams.
The project was taken out of the office and into Ryde as often as possible. This was regularly achieved in the following way: -

Funding the Ryde Area RangerSingle Regeneration Budget monies were allocated by SEEDA to the Isle of Wight Economic Partnership (IWEP) to fund this project until 2006. The project required no financial support from the IWC. Funding for the Ryde Area Ranger project ran out in December 2004. |
